When it is cold in winter and people would prefer not to be outside, the Berlin Six-Day Race attracts fans to the indoor cycling track to watch exciting professional sports in a relaxed atmosphere. Various cycling races have always been part of the Six Day Race, including motor-paced races, Derny racing, and sprinting.
Berlin's prestigious Unter den Linden boulevard extends eastwards from Brandenburg Gate towards Alexanderplatz square, passing the Museum Island World Heritage site, as well as Berlin Cathedral, the Neue Wache and the baroque Zeughaus (armoury), which today houses the German Historical Museum.
Highlights in the western parts of Berlin include the Kurfürstendamm, as elegant a shopping street as you'll find anywhere, the Kaufhaus des Westens department store (better known as KaDeWe), on-trend boutiques and exclusive galleries, as well as beautiful residential streets and, of course, Berlin's famous nightlife.
Also this year, the Berlin Cathedral will be the impressive scenery for this special kind of concert. For the first time, a modern laser harp presents classical music alongside the great Sauer-organ of the cathedral. One of the most popular works of classical music undergoes a special update during the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS.
